Jonathan is a forensic accountant and former family law attorney. Jonathan’s background as a family law attorney provides him with knowledge and experience not available to most forensic accountants. This background increases Jonathan’s ability to assist in settling complex family law matters and also testifying in Court. Jonathan’s legal experience includes experience at a prestigious family law firm in Broward County, Florida (Chorowski & Associates, P.A.) and forensic accounting experience at prestigious large scale accounting firms. Prior to starting Stief & Castro with Joseph Castro, Jonathan operated his own accounting firm and also a separate law firm.
Jonathan’s primary focus involves providing family law litigation support services, including but not limited to, financial affidavit preparation, analysis of assets and liabilities and related preparation of proposed equitable distribution, asset tracing, income determination, alimony and needs analysis, and child support calculations. His role includes expert testimony and assistance at trials, mediations, and discovery management. In addition, Jonathan also provides financial planning, estate planning services and tax planning strategies for individuals and businesses.
Jonathan earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Florida, his Masters of Taxation from Florida Atlantic University and his Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Florida. Further, Jonathan is Accredited in Business Valuation and Certified in Financial Forensics by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. The AICPA also recognizes Jonathan as a Personal Financial Specialist. The Personal Financial Specialist is a credential from the AICPA which distinguishes CPAs with a specialization in personal financial planning. Jonathan is also a licensed attorney in the State of Florida and a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator.
Jonathan is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Florida Bar. Jonathan also serves as a Board of Director for Rachel’s Wish, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for children going through cancer treatment.
